HEREFORDSHIRE beat Nottinghamshire 5-3 in the Midland Counties Youth Championship on Sunday.
The home side made a lightening start and opened the scoring through Alex Lancett barely a minute after the match had started.
Lancett then hit the crossbar before James Hancock produced a fine save from visiting goalkeeper Elliot Stephenson.
However, Lancett did make it 2-0 after a defence splitting move before George Hayes got on the scoresheet with a brilliant individual goal.
Nottinghamshire then missed two good chances before reducing the deficit through Ben Oates.
And after the interval, the visitors continued where they left off.
Alex Robinson and Dominic Baker were creating havoc in the home defence, resulting in goals for Ryan Elman and Joe Welsh to make it 3-3.
But Adam Hockey regained Hereford's lead in the 75th minute before Hayes sealed the win.
