BARTESTREE ended the year in style by thrashing Continental Star 7-1 in Midland Football League Division Three.

It is the village club's first season in the league after deciding to withdraw from the Herefordshire Football Association County League.

And they have acquitted themselves well, currently lying in the second automatic promotion spot.

Tom Parry led the way with a hat-trick as Bartestree demolished their opponents.

The former Kington Town marksman scored two of his goals in the first half after Jack Shemwell had opened the scoring.

Continental Star pulled a goal back in through Nathan Waite, but that turned out to be a mere consolation.

Parry sealed his hat-trick to make it 4-1 before Levi Ellis got on the scoresheet.

Two goals from Theo Steele completed the rout.

GNP Sports are red-hot favourites to win the league having won 11 of their 12 games, but it;s a race to finish second.

Bartestree are one point ahead of AFC Solihull, with Shipston Excelsior two points further adrift.

This Saturday, Bartestree go to bottom club Leamington Hibernian.
