HEREFORD FC manager Pete Beadle said he was ‘immensely proud’ of his side despite bowing out of the FA Cup after a 2-0 defeat against Fleetwood Town.

Despite sitting over 80 places in the football pyramid below their visitors Hereford were only beaten by two Cian Bulger headers from corners.

“I’m disappointed of course because we have given two goals away from set pieces, said Beadle.

“It is never good to give goals away from set pieces and the same lad got on the end of two decent corners but I am immensely proud of what the players have done.

“The second half I thought we had the lion share of the play, but I don’t think it was a game full of chances. It ebbed and flowed between the two boxes with no final third cutting edge from either team.

“We couldn’t quite unlock them in the final third. You have to remember who we are playing against. Normally we are a bit more fluent, but we were playing against a league side 80 odd places above us.

“They train every day and at times you could see that as they were a little bit quicker to react to second balls but outside that in the second half especially I think we matched them in lots of areas.

“I’m hugely proud of the players of what they have achieved tonight and in the cup run and fairly pleased with the performance.

“I thought first half our team were playing the occasion and not the game or the way we play. So the second half we got closer to them and got a bit more time on the ball.

“Going forwards it was little things which didn’t quite click tonight which is not like us normally going forward. The players gave everything they had and it has been a fantastic run but we move on to Sunday.

“We don’t come up against teams like that every week.

Hereford matched their league two opponents in must areas of the pitch and also had chances with Kenyon Reffell rattling the side-netting in the first half.

A proud Beadle said his team will learn from their costly mistakes.

“Jack (Deaman) was obviously disappointed as it was his man who scored both of the goals but he will learn from that and take it on board,” added Beadle.

“Maybe he can get more physical with his man but you can’t knock him because the lad (George Glendon) is a giant, he is six foot six and anybody who goes up against him will find it tough when he gets a run on you and things like that.

“We just asked to learn about the game management but the biggest thing for me is how well they did in the game.

“2-0 for me is not a disrespectful score against us on another day we block the headers and it’s 0-0 as they didn’t really unlock the defence tonight.”
