WESTFIELDS were left frustrated after their game at Shepshed Dynamo was called off on Tuesday night due to a waterlogged pitch.
The referee postponed the Midland Football League Premier Division shortly before 6pm, with the Westfields team bus just getting onto the M42.
Manager Sean Edwards believes Shepshed should have warned his team much earlier that there was a chance the game could be called off.
"If they were concerned with the pitch then they should have made us aware because we left," said Edwards.
"But the first I heard about it was when [chief executive] Andy Morris range me as we got onto the M42.
"We left at 4.30pm but there was traffic around Worcester and then congestion on the M42.
"If we are concerned about the pitch being unplayable, we inform the team before they set off and look at the forecast.
"At our level, it's frustrating for the lads because they have to finish work early.
"Richard Greaves was even at Center Parks at Longleat with his family and he left at 2pm so he could still make the journey."
Westfields are home this Saturday when they entertain Quorn.
"We've got to keep picking up points because some teams are winning a lot of games in a row, so we're falling behind," added Westfields.
"But I think there will still be some twists and turns in this league."
