HEREFORD showed their promotion credentials by demolishing Leominster 9-1 in the North Division of the West Clubs' Women's League.

Tia Taylor led the way with five goals, with captain Erica Rogers (2), Jules Messer and Tess Langford also on target.

The win maintains Hereford's unbeaten start to the season, while Leominster are struggling near the foot of the division.

"It's been a while since we beat them like that," said Rogers.

"It's a bit frustrating because we drew the week before when we should have won.

"Since dropping down, this season has been a bit of a developmental year.

"We've played some young players, like 15-year-old Carys Johnson, who has been a stalwart at the back.

"Cirencester are top so we will see what happens when we play them, that will be our big game."

Meanwhile, Presteigne lost 4-0 to Whitchurch Saints in Premier 1 of the South Wales Hockey League.

Presteigne defended well, with Donna Jones, Nicola Phillips and Leanne Evans impressing, but it was Whitchurch who struck twice in the first half.

And the home side scored two further goals after the break to seal the win.

Kington beat Whitchurch Saints Thirds 3-0 in Division One.

Elsewhere, Hereford Seconds went down 6-2 to Bretforton in Severn Division 1, while in Severn Division 2, Colwall & Malvern drew 3-3 with Evesham & Badsey and Ross-on-Wye beat Cirencester Fourths 1-0.

In the same division, Leominster lost 3-1 to the leaders, Bridgend, while Ross-on-Wye were beaten 6-2 by Cleevillians.
