A RISING cyclist clinched silver in the National 10-mile Championships last weekend in the junior category.

Joshua Sandman, from Ross-on-Wye, finished in a time of 20 minutes and 32 seconds, clocking an average speed of over 29 miles per hour, which was 17 seconds behind the winner.

James Morris (NFTO Race Club) finished 30th finishing in 24:01.

Meanwhile, NFTO's Mike Morris stormed to victory in the Climb on Bikes organised hill climb near Fownhope.

Morris shaved seven seconds off the Capler Hill course record to win in one hour 30 seconds.

Gannett Cycling Club's Graeme Prout was second in 1:47, with Joe Peatson (Ely RC) coming in third in a time of 1:50.

Completing the top five were Herefordshire Cycling Club's Milo Giradet and Ceri Middleton, who completed the course in 1:51 and 1:55 respectively.
