WESTFIELDS manager Sean Edwards thought that only one goal would be enough in last night's FA Cup replay against Soham Town Rangers.

A solitary Alex Hainault strike in the 52nd minute saw Westfields progress to the second qualifying round thanks to a 1-0 win.

"It was a similar game to Saturday where, as the game wore on we missed more chances at the end, but 1-0 is good," said Edwards.

"We're keeping clean sheets and have got a good solid back four again.

"It's never going to be pretty, especially as both teams are tense."

Soham felt they should have had a penalty for handball six minutes from time and Edwards sympathised with them.

"It was a penalty," he conceded.

"But the ref had a different angle to me and the lad was only a few yards away.

"The boys are saying it was outside the box but it was handball and I think if it was the other way round, we would be disappointed."

Soham were also reduced to 10 men after striker James Tricks was sent off for violent conduct.

"I thought he was going to get sent off, he was throwing his arms around," added Edwards.
