RADNOR Valley got their Spar Mid Wales League Division One campaign off to the best possible start with a 3-0 home success over Llandrindod Wells.

Radnor, who have strengthened over the summer, took an interval lead through Joey Price who latched on to brother, Ieuan’s through ball.

Price grabbed his second from an Elliot Morris cross early in the second half before debutant, Liam Jones sealed the win.

Knighton Town were eyeing an opening day three points at Llanidloes Town but fell to a 3-2 defeat as a couple of big decisions went against the Robins.

Town had goalkeeper Joe Prosser sent off inside the opening ten minutes with Llanidloes going ahead from the resulting penalty.

Player-manager, Adam Worton put Connor Bird through for an equaliser but Drew Reynolds headed Llanidloes back in front.

Ten man Knighton continued to take the game to the home side and Worton set Bird up for his second but they were undone with replacement keeper Danny Ives credited with an own goal.

However, Knighton felt the ball had not crossed the line.

In Division Two, Presteigne St Andrews got their season up and running with a 3-2 victory at Talgarth Town where Tom Crichton headed them into an early lead.

Presteigne then squandered a string of chances allowing Matthew Lloyd to equalise for Talgarth on the stroke of half-time.

Harry Sharman then put Talgarth ahead with a goal on the break but Josh Gardner hit a second for Presteigne before new signing, Jack Biggs bagged the winner.

Hay St Marys put their recent troubles to one side to notch a 3-0 success at Dyffryn Banw.

Veteran striker, Kevin Jones fired The Saints ahead from 40 yards and second half strikes from the impressive Will Goodwin and Callum Maddy clinched the points.

Brecon Northcote suffered a 3-2 defeat at Dolgellau in their first ever Spar Mid Wales League game with Joel Evans twice levelling the scores, while Ollie Woods gave Newbridge the lead in an entertaining 1-1 draw with visiting Montgomery Town.
