WESTFIELDS Reserves captain Ellis Davey says his team will aim for promotion next season.

The team finished fourth in HFA County League Premier Division and had an unbeaten home record up to the last few games of the season.

Davey believes the side are in good shape and have been lucky that they've been able to draw upon a strong squad this season.

"We have got a good young side, so we're hoping to keep them for the next few years and have a good go at the title," said Davey.

"For the first six months of the season we were telling two lads that they couldn't play because we had so many players in the squad.

"Again Hinton, we only had two players on the bench and one got injured.

"But over the course of the season, we've had really good commitment and we've been lucky."

Davey added that a couple more players could make the step up to the first team.

"Julio [da Mata] has been training with the first time and we're hoping to try and get a couple of the young lads train with them to learn their trade," said Davey.

On Saturday, Westfields Reserves lost 1-0 to champions Hinton.

"In the second half, I thought we were the better team, we just didn't get any shots away and you can see why they've won the league," said Davey.
