VETERAN player Mike Marsden says Hinton will look to blood some more young players into their title-winning squad.

Hinton clinched the HFA County League Premier Division title on Saturday thanks to 1-0 win against Westfields Reserves.

Marsden is one of a number of experienced players at Hinton and has been involved with the Broomy Hill club since 1998.

"Our under-17s were runners-up in the cup and we've got five or six players playing in the reserves," said Marsden.

"So we're trying to develop youth at the club and mix it up with the experience in the squad, like Pughy in goal, Rod, myself and Cussy and we've also got in the boys that have joined from Lads Club."

Marsden has seen it all at Hinton, including the highs of winning the West Midlands League Cup and finishing second in Division One to nearly dropping out of the Herefordshire Premier Division.

But Marsden says the club will not be looking to go any higher just yet.

"There's no aspirations at the moment to go any higher," he said.

"It costs a lot of money to get sponsorship and you need commitment.

"Maybe it is something we could look at in a few years when the youngsters have come through, but at the moment we're building for the future."

Marsden says that, even though the Herefordshire Football League may not have as many good players as it may have had in the past, it is still competitive.

"Hopefully next year we will get Ludlow and some of the other rural teams in the Premier Division, like Kingstone," he said.

Hinton have looked certainties to win the Premier Division for a long time and Marsden believes the players may have put too much pressure on themselves as they looked to go over the line.

"Near the top, teams come to beat you and it's a cup final for every team we play," said Marsden.

"We got a good to the season and in the second half, we had to grind it out.

"And that's what we did again.

"We got the goal in the first half and in the second half, we had to drop back and defend.

"It was their last game and they've got a bunch of young lads.

"They had a go at us and made it really difficult.

"We nicked a game off them at the beginning of the season so I think they thought they owed us one.

"Credit to Westfields though, they're a good bunch of lads and will get strong in years to come."

Hinton had already had a couple of shots on goal before they went ahead in the 24th minute.

Luke Semple sent Luke Davies clear, who slotted the ball past Westfields goalkeeper Kieran Field.

Hinton almost made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute, but Rod Haslam headed wide.

The second half was more of an even contest, with defences on top.

The best chance of the half fell to Hinton's Elliot Body, who saw his effort saved, with the resulting corner leading to Haslam having a header cleared off the line.
