FORMER Kington Town manager Shaun Harris has been appointed first-team boss of Presteigne.

Harris had been coaching at Hay St Mary's after leaving Kington and says he is delighted to join the Spar Mid-Wales League Division two side.

“I am really pleased to have been offered the post at Presteigne St Andrews and am looking forward to the challenges ahead," said Harris.

“While a look at the league table would tell you there is clearly work to be done, the club has some good young players.

“My predecessor Tom Ammonds deserves a lot of credit for the work he’s done this season and the challenge now is to build on that.

“With a few additions, I am confident we can put together a competitive squad for next season.”

Presteigne chairman Andrew Crowe added that the club's committee knew Harris was a very strong candidate when they met him

“As well as his obvious coaching experience the overwhelming aspect that came across was Shaun’s enthusiasm and drive," said Crowe.

“Crucially, he feels Presteigne is a very good fit for him as he looks to step up from being head coach and back to the manager’s job."

“Shaun has already been to Llanandras Park on a couple of occasions and may well be in the dugout for the final game of the Spar Mid Wales League season when we host Churchstoke on Wednesday, April 5."

Meanwhile in Division One, Knighton Town returned to winning ways with a 4-1 victory at rivals Radnor Valley.

Sam Williams scored twice for Knighton, while Chris Roff and Dan Famrer also netted.

Hay St Mary's Reserves took a step closer to the Watson Financial Mid-Wales League (South) title by thrashing Penybont Reserves 6-0.

Kyle Harding led the way with a brace.

Elsewhere, Presteigne Reserves slipped to a 5-2 defeat to Builth Wells Reserves.
