HEREFORD Lads Club are closing in on the West Midlands (Regional) League Division One title.

Danny Moon's team thrashed second-placed Newport Town 5-0 yesterday to record their 23rd win out of 24 games.

Only Wednesfield and Worcester Raiders can now catch Lads Club, with the sides having games in hand on the Hereford side.

Lads Club can effectively seal promotion next week with a win at Wrens Nest, especially if Worcester Raiders drop points at Newport.

Kalum Wildig opened the scoring yesterday in the second minute before a Tom Harding header made it 2-0.

Wildig scored again after the break and it was 4-0 when Rory Worthing rifled home a 40-yard piledriver.

Kiea Cowley sealed the win when he headed home Harding's cross.

At the other end of the table, Kington Town have a fight to stay in the division after going down 2-1 at home to Old Wulfrunians.

Kington are now three points from safety with five games remaining.
