GREYHOUND gained a vital win 32-5 win against Aldridge as they look to gain promotion from Midlands 5 West (North).

In the opening minutes, the Hereford side were awarded a penalty, which was converted by Zach Thompson.

The visitors replied with a try for the only points Greyhound allowed them.

Elliott Phillips extended the home side's advantage with a try from the back of the scrum, with Thompson again converting.

The rest of the first half saw three penalties awarded to Greyhound, with Thompson converting all of them.

Thomspon kicked over another three-pointer after the break before Lee Simpson came on to score an unconverted try,

Phillips again for on the scoresheet to seal a convincing win.

This week, Greyhound are home to Birmingham Civil Service in the quarter-finals of the North Midlands Vase.

Ledbury's grip on second place in Midlands 3 West (South) is now down to just three points after they went down 39-14 to Evesham.

Bromyard, meanwhile, claimed a bonus point win after beating Coventry Welsh 33-24 in Midlands 4 West (South).

Two drop goals and a try just before half time from Jarrod Kidston paved the way the win, and although trailing at the interval, the home team stepped up a gear.

Tries were scored by Jamie Gibbons, Rhys Cooper and Chris Muntz Torres, with Toby Rivers adding the conversions.

Ross-on-Wye also had a good win, beating Gloucester 2 high-fliers Old Elizabethans 11-7.
