BRAD Matthews is delighted with how it is going at Hinton Football Club.

The Hereford club claimed a vital 2-0 win against title rivals Tenbury United to cement their position at the top of HFA County League Premier Division.

And considering Hinton threw away a two-goal lead against Orleton Colts the previous week to lose for the first time this season, Matthews said it was important the team got back on track straight away.

"We've just to carry on winning all of our games and picking up the trophy at the end of the season," said Matthews.

"We thought we had a good chance of winning it, like we have the past few seasons.

"It's a case of keeping the same strong squad."

Matthews scored Hinton's second goal against Tenbury after Mike Marsden broke the deadlock shortly after half time.

"I've had four in the last four games, including three headers, and I just want to keep my goalscoring going," added Matthews, who is in his fourth season at Hinton.

"Considering it was against Tenbury, the game was pretty vital, but I was just glad to score and help us win 2-0.

"We got the goal early in the second half and then just battled.

"I think it was a well deserved win."

Tenbury looked the livelier of the two teams in the early stages and had a goal disallowed in the fifth minute due to a foul occurring in the build-up.

Dale Withers then headed straight at Hinton goalkeeper Dave Spencer before Tenbury's opposite number saved from a Callum Ditchfield free-kick,

Marsden opened the scoring for Hinton in the 48th minute in from close range before Luke Semple and Tenbury player-manager Aaron Morris were both sent off following an altercation.

"I think the Tenbury player's head went into one of our players and he just put his hand up to stop it and they both got sent off," added Matthews.

However, Hinton managed to get the vital second goal through Matthews in the 65th minute with a cool finish before the striker hit the crossbar.
