WELLINGTON midfielder Will Perkins believes the villagers are good enough to sustain their top five position in West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division.

Derek Williams' team are just three points off third place, although they have played two more games than Wolverhampton Casuals and Malvern Town.

"I think we know we've got a good nucleus of players here, it's just getting players available all the time," said Perkins.

"If we can get them available and play at the levels we know we can play, we can challenge in the top five and even in the top three.

"We didn't finish as high as we would have liked last season, but we've got Josh Hunt and Adam Newbury back and added one or two more, which I think has made us a better side."

Perkins hit an unstoppable free-kick that rescued a 2-2 draw for Wellington against Pegasus Juniors last Saturday.

"I've got a bit of a track record down here, but they don't always fly in," added Perkins.

"I've seen a few this season that have flown all over the place, but I've hit a bit of good form.

"It was really good bearing in mind the time of the game where we were on top.

"Unfortunately after the goal, I don't think we did enough to probably win the game, but it was good to get us back in it.

"We didn't think we played badly in the first half, but Cory Hyde upfront is a really dangerous player and if you give him chances, he's going to score them.

"But I thought up until the first goal we were the better side and played some good football.

"We went in at half-time, re-grouped and I thought in the second half we did enough to win the game."
