WESTFIELDS claimed a vital 2-1 win at Brocton tonight as they continue to hunt down Alvechurch at the top of Midland Football League Premier Division.
But Sean Edwards' side made hard work of it against their 10-man hosts.
Chris Ham opened the scoring for Westfields with a fine curled effort before Craig Holland was sent off for Brocton.
However, the hosts drew level before half time thanks to a Dave Ablewhite penalty.
Westfields continued to press after the break, but it looked like it was not going to be their night, especially when a Craig Jones header hit a post.
But Richard Greaves popped up in the last 10 minutes to score from the second time of asking.
Westfields now have 50 points, 12 behind Alvechurch, who beat Tividale 4-1.
But Westfields have five games in hand on the leaders.
