HINTON are now overwhelming favourites to win the HFA County League Premier Division after beating Holme Lacy 3-1 at the weekend.

Simon Stubbs, Matt Evans and Bradley Matthews scored the goals that has seen Hinton extend their lead at the top of the division to 11 points.

They have also been helped by the fact that Bartestree, Ewyas Harold and Tenbury United all lost.

Bartestree went down 2-1 to Fownhope, Ewyas Harold lost 2-0 at Westfields Reserves and Tenbury fell to surprising 2-1 defeat to rivals Orleton Colts.

It means that, should Hinton go on and win the title, there will be a real battle for the runners-up spot.

Tenbury Town also gave their hopes of winning Division One by hammering fellow challengers Ledbury Town Reserves 6-1.

Declan Bright netted a hat-trick in the win, while Mark Boucker struck twice.

Elsewhere, Woofferton comfortably beat rivals Ludlow Colts 6-2, Holme Lacy Reserves hammered Orleton Colts Reserves 7-1, Weobley overcame Fownhope Reserves in a 5-4 thriller and Hereford City saw off Ewyas Harold Reserves 1-0 to climb up to second.

Kingstone Rovers, meanwhile, remain unbeaten in Division Two following a 5-0 win over Withington.

Burghill Rangers, who are second, beat Dore Valley 3-2, while Bartestree Reserves hammered Hereford City Reserves 16-1 and Civil Service overcame Weston 1-0.

Shobdon and Ross Juniors drew 1-1.

The only Sunday League game that beat the weather was at Hay where Hay St Mary's claimed their first win of the Central Division.

Two goals from Darren Horrigan and one each by Tom Landon and Nathan Heighway saw Hay beat Rosey Athletic 4-2.
