A COUNTY taekwondo club claimed a haul of medals at the BTF Birmingham Open competition.

Warrior Taekwondo Club (formerly Spirit Warrior Taekwondo) took 11 gold, 10 seven and four bronze medals at the competition – their most successful haul to date.

The contest involved sparring, patterns, power (for adults) and special technique for children, which involved a long flying kick over an obstacle.

Evie Kelly won a gold in sparring, silver in special technique and bronze in patterns, while Lily Cox and Grace Williams won gold and silver respectively in the same sparring category. Grace also claimed a silver medal in patterns.

Elsewhere, Yuri Douse won a gold in patterns and silver in sparring in her first competition and Steven Fedor and James Moran, the club's international competitors who are training for the European Championships in Liverpool in April, returned with two golds and two silvers.

Other gold medals came from Jack Digwood, Jack Williams, Tom and Harry Bottle, Luca Pope and Alex Evans.
