EXPERIENCED Weston striker Justin Halfpenny says he is enjoying playing in the Herefordshire FA County League.

Halfpenny has scored 10 goals in his last two teams for the Weston-under-Penyard based team in Division Two, which has seen the side climb up to fourth place.

"I've still got a hernia, so can't play at a high level, but I've grown up with a lot of the boys and the morale is good," said Halfpenny.

"We've got a good little team and are more consistent than at the start of the season.

"We'll just carry on trying and climbing the league."

Weston thrashed Hereford City Reserves 10-0 last Saturday, which came on the back of an 8-1 success against the same opponents.

But Halfpenny said it's good that Hereford City Reserves are carrying on despite losing every game this season.

"I think their team has got good heart, they don't stop playing and as long as they enjoy it, it doesn't matter how good a side it is," said Halfpenny.

"They turn up week in, week out and seem like they're a good bunch of friends.

"I am glad they haven't just finished and pulled out and they seem to have the same sort of side most weeks, so they must enjoy it."

Weston opened the scoring through Justin Halfpenny in the 18th minute before he added a second goal six minutes before half time.

The floodgates really opened after the break, with Halfpenny adding two further goals.

Ben Timmins (2) Jack Wright (2), Chris Davies and James Reid were also on target.
