HEREFORD claimed a bonus point win against Kenilworth as they look to continue their good form in Midlands 1 West.

The Wyesiders scored four tries against their struggling hosts to secure a 27-15 win.

"Our defence was strong throughout," said Hereford head coach Bob Stewart.

"The boys played to the structure we have been developing."

Captain Luke Yarranton was also pleased with his team’s performance.

"We weathered the storm and we know we have the ammunition to take on the best teams in this league.

"But we have work to do yet."

Hereford had to fight hard to claim the win in a match that saw both sides leading at various points.

Kenilworth came out of the blocks flying and Hereford had to defend well.

But Callum Duncan opened the scoring for the Wyesiders with a try before Kenilworth struck back with a converted try to take the lead 12 minutes later.

The Hereford response was a further try, this time by Lewis Jordan, again unconverted before Kenilworth struck again.

As the first half drew to a close, Hereford began to get into the groove and scored an excellent try through Ben Osborne; Dean Powell this time converting.

Kenilworth began the second half as they did the first, with a sustained attacking period for while denying Hereford that fourth try and bonus point.

They hit home with a penalty goal about 15 minutes in.

Hereford then had their best spell of the game and with 10 minutes to go, they claimed the bonus point with a Luke Fisher try.

Powell, who also struck over a penalty in the second half, converted to win the match 27-15.
