WELLINGTON striker Josh Hunt has admitted that he took a risk by joining county rivals Pegasus Juniors earlier this season.

Hunt and central midfielder Adam Newbury both made the move to Old School Lane before heading back to Wellington.

"It just wasn't the right time," said Hunt.

"Pegasus is a great club with [chief executive] Kevin Bishop and all his staff there.

"Unfortunately it just wasn't for me and it was the wrong timing.

"Jamie Edmonds and Stu [Stuart Bethall] were great coaches and I wish them all the best, but it wasn't the right time for me and Wellington was asking and I came back.

"We tried it, we took a risk, but unfortunately sometimes those risks don't pay off."

Hunt says he loves playing for Wellington and praised the work everyone does at the village club.

"It's a great club and everyone here works from the club – from [chairman] Phil Smith right the way down to the groundsman," said Hunt.

"It really is a good club and it's not about money here and paying players.

"It's about the enjoyment of playing for the club getting the best out of it.

"That's why I love it."

Hunt scored the opening goal for Wellington against Lichfield City in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase on Saturday.

But Lichfield hit back to win 5-2.

"I've started to get back on the goal trail, which is what I need, and overall as a team, I think we've done well.

"I've just got to build on my own performance around that team."
