AN injury to referee Phillip Jones saw Ledbury Town’s HFA Charity Bowl match against Hinton being abandoned.

Jones sustained a hamstring injury and had to call a halt to the match at half time with it poised at 0-0.

“The Ledbury Town chairman, John Preedy, came on to the pitch to talk to his players in an effort to see what was occurring,” explained Ledbury press officer Chris Ponter.

“It then became clear that the game would have to be abandoned after the man in the middle felt that he could continue no longer as the players left the field having performed the much earlier than expected parting handshakes.”

Elsewhere in the cup, Bartestree beat Westfields Reserves 3-1 thanks to a hat-trick from Miles Langford, while Holme Lacy hammered Wellington Reserves 5-2.

James Upcott nettied twice for Holme Lacy, while Jean Alvaraz, Stuart Mills and Sean Thomas were also on target.

The solitary Premier Division match saw Tenbury United beat Ewyas Harold 2-1, while, in Division One, Woofferton beat Kington Town Reserves 3-1.

Chris Breakwell, Dan Gower and Luke Pugh scored for Woofferton, with the latter player being later sent off.
