A CHARITY cricket match is to be held this Sunday in memory of a Hereford man who died from cancer.

This is the fifth match organised by Richard Matravers' twin sons Adam and Robert, with this weekend's encounter taking place at Bartestree & Lugwardine Cricket Club.

A 30-overs-a-side game will take place between teams picked by the brothers, with the winning side being awarded the Richard Matravers Memorial Cricket Match Trophy.

All proceeds on the day will go towards St Michael's Hospice.

"My dad really enjoyed his cricket and used to join in our schoolboy games at the Quarry in the 1990s where his enthusiasm and love of the game shone through," said Adam.

"Many of the players who have taken part in this event over the last five years look back on those days with affection.

"Dad would be so very proud of the amount of money we have raised for St Michael's Hospice.

"He spoke very warmly about them during his final days there."

An auction and raffle will be held following the match, with La Roche Restoration, who restore historical buildings, sponsoring the event.
