YOUNGSTERS have given tennis a try as part of the LTA’s ‘Tennis For Kids’ initiative at Kington Tennis Club.

The lessons, spread over six weeks, were led by Steve Hodges, chairman and coach at Kington Tennis Club, who was selected as one of 1,000 coaches to run the course after receiving training from Great Britain’s Davis Cup captain, Leon Smith.

The biggest ever grassroots programme run by the LTA, the UK’s main national governing body for tennis, looked to inspire 10,000 kids across the country and offered free rackets and balls to youngsters who completed the course.

Hodges said: “Tennis for Kids has been a really great experience for everyone involved.

"As a club, we would like to thank the LTA for setting up this project to inspire the next generation."

Kington Tennis Club run weekly coaching sessions.
