ROB Purdie says scoring a screamer at Wembley will be something to show his children in years to come.

The Hereford FC veteran had never played at the home of football before and opened the scoring for the Bulls after only two minutes.

And despite going on to lose the FA Vase Final, Purdie belieevs the supporters should still be proud of what the players have achieved this season

"In years to come, when you get over that initial disappointment, it will be something to look back on and something to show the kids," he said.

"May be I just have to turn the game off after two-and-a-half minute, so they don't see the rest of it.

"I've been happy with my goals return, I think that's 13 now for the season and I just want to push on now for next season.

"It is something that I can take away from it, but right now, it's more the result which is disappointing."

"But any team in the country, whether it's the Premier League or non-league, I think they would have taken three trophies and a day out at Wembley.

"It's a shame, because we would have liked to have swapped it with a couple of the other cups but when we put this season into perspective, it's been a successful season.

"Some of the players have grown so much on and off the pitch and hopefully some will go on to bigger and better things in the future.

"The fans will be disappointed with how we've finished the season, but going up to them afterwards, they were different class.

"I think they have enjoyed the season on the whole as well.

"They will go away disappointed with the day, but they'll go back and always remember this season."

Purdie felt Morpeth were the best side Hereford had faced this season.

"I think, once they got their noses in front, they did a good job stifling us," he said.

"If we were to lose though, I didn't expect us to lose by such a scoreline and it's not the way we wanted to end the season.

"But if we look at in perspective, with three trophies and a trip to Wembley, you can't really moan."
