NUMBER eight James Harris believes the future is bright at Hereford Rugby Club after deciding to leave the club at the end of the season.

Harris is set to go travelling and says it will be sad to say goodbye to Wyeside.

"I'll be heading off for a few years, but hopefully I'll come back in a few years and see the club in a much better position and the youngsters coming through," said Harris.

"It's been a real pleasure since arriving in 2013 and have been made to feel very welcome.

"It's a good family, friendly club.

"There are a lot of really good players who are coming into their early to mid 20s and the structures are there for a long time to come, with future players coming through from the Colts.

"We train with them now and again on Tuesdays and Thursdays and they make us work for our money.

"The coaching set-up is strong and the future is bright for the club."

Despite being ninth in Midlands 1 West, Hereford have games in hand on all of the teams above them.

Harris believes, if the Wyesiders win their next four games, they will be back in the promotion mix.

"We do have games in hand and I think, if we win them with bonus points, then we have a real chance of promotion," said Harris, who was part of a Hereford side that beat Bournville 50-26 last week.

"We've practised hard and have been working on our structures and it was nice to see them clicking.

"The centre partnership of Perry [Pudge] and Tom Ewins, controlled by Dean [Powell] just worked.

"All the 50/50 decisions paid off and the boys scored some tries."
