HEREFORD centre-back Nathan Summers says he was delighted that Sol Wheatley proved what he can do after the winger helped the Bulls to a comprehensive 4-1 win against Lye Town.

John Mills may have grabbed the headlines with his four goals, but Wheatley was exceptional on the right wing.

"Mills scored the goals but I think Sol had a great game," said Summers.

"He's someone that I'm really close to and I'll tell him that he did really well because he's one of those players that lets things get in his head a little bit if he has a bad game but he did superb.

"Sol is a confidence player, if he beats players and does well, he gets confident and takes that into games.

"The momentum is really good with the team now, we've just got to keep it going.

"I don't think we will get ahead of ourselves, but we've got to keep the form going and keep picking up points."

Hereford manager Pete Beadle, who has described Wheatley as "an enigma" in the past, felt Wheatley had his best game in a Bulls shirt.

"John will score goals, that is why he is here, but he can't do it without the rest of the team, they've got to put the ball in the areas for him," said Beadle.

"Pablo [Haysham] had a hand in two of his goals, Sol was fantastic again and I thought it was his best game for us.

"The front four were exceptional, backed up by the two boys in midfield who I thought were solid and picked up the second balls and backed up by a real solid, sound back four and goalkeeper.

"I thought we totally dominated the game and had a 20 minute spell in the first half where we wore them down.

"Then after about 25 minutes to 30 minutes of the game, I thought there were only one team in it.

"It was a good all-round performance."

Mills grabbed his first goal after 31 minutes before Lye equalised four minutes into the second half with a spectacular goal.

With his back to goal and at least 30 yards from goal, James Spray flicked the ball over his head and lobbed it over a helpless Harvey Rivers in the Hereford goal.

"As soon as he put it in, everyone just looked around et each other and just went 'wow'," said Dylan Bonella.

"The guy took the goal well, but we showed good character to bounce back from it."

However, Mills, who had a goal disallowed in the first half, was on target again four minutes later before the prolific marksman completed his hat-trick after 66 minutes.

The win was sealed when Hereford's number nine grabbed his fourth goal eight minutes from time to make it 14 goals for the season.
