LUCTONIANS will host Bromsgrove tomorrow night in their final warm-up game before they start again in National League 2 North next weekend.

The Mortimer Park side, who dramatically stayed up with a final day win against Leicester Lions last season, have had a mixed pre-season scheduled so far.

Lucs have had to contend with cancelled games and have also questioned some referring decisions in their games against Cardiff Metropolitan and Newbridge.

However, bot games gave the coaching stuff an opportunity to look at their wider squad options, with an exhaustive training scheduled starting in May for some of the players.

This included an excellent session with Worcester Warriors defensive coach Simon Cross, which should leave the squad in fine shape going into the new season.

Tomorrow night's squad is likely to include returning duo Dale Garner and Will Hodnett, who have both come back to Lucs this season having spent time away at Stourbridge and Newport (Gwent) respectively.

John Morris and Ed Godsall have both also made welcome returns from long term injuries to add even further to what was already a predominantly home-grown squad.

New local recruits Rhyan Scott-Young, Theo Hodnett, George Davies and Richie Chandler will all also be hoping to get a chance to impress, while new arrivals Sebastien Freydell and Joseph Forsyth will arrive in Herefordshire in September from South Africa and New Zealand respectively to add some bulk to the pack.

John Kelly, one of last season’s star performers, also returns from a stint in the Heartland competition in New Zealand.

Kick off is 7.30pm and entry is free.

A second team squad is also set to play Bridgnorth's first team on Saturday.

Luctonians kick off their National 2 North campaign with a trip to West Yorkshire next Saturday to face newly promoted Sandal.
