CRICKHOWELL gave Goodrich one of their toughest tests this season, but the Herefordshire still managed to prevail and stay well clear at the top of the GB Marches Cricket League Division One table.

The villages are 46 points ahead of nearest challengers Luctonians after beating Crickhowell by just 10 runs.

James O'Brien led the attack with the bat, with his 56 proving crucial in Goodrich's total of 182.

Joe Provis and Mark Bradford then shared seven wickets between themselves as Crickhowell were bowled out for 172.

Hamish Light once again showed his prowess for Luctonians as his 78 helped them to a two-wicket win over third placed Builth Wells.

Tom Jay also helped himself to five wickets for Lucs.

Dave Bromage's unbeaten 72 and Alex Hinckey's five wickets helped struggling Brockhampton 3rd to a crucial win over basement club Canon Frome, with a Knock-Out Cup win also coming against the same opponents.

Elsewhere, Robert Stokes' 75 saw Kington prevail past Garnons, while Joshua Evans and Paddy Merryman both scored 60-plus runs for Ledbury in their seven-wicket success over Woolhope.

Marden remain top of Division Two after they thrashed Almeley by 108 runs.

Mike Williams top-scored with 84 for Marden, with Pete Richards helping himself to four wickets.

Luctonians 2nd have meanwhile given themselves a fighting chance of catching Colwall 3rd at the top of Division Three after thrashing the pacesetters by 183 runs.

Frank Kelly led the way with a fine century as Luctonians posted 263-9.

Chris Griffiths then blitzed through the Colwall attack, finishing with figures of 5-15.

Colwall were bowled out for just 80, with Colin Cameron and Simon Davies scoring 49 of them.
