HEREFORD & County Athletics Club performed admirably at a Youth Development League upper-age fixture in Gloucester despite challenging conditions.

In the 'A' string, Under-17 JJ Price Evans came first in in the javelin, while Under-20 athlete Nicola Masters stormed to success in the 100m hurdles and high jump.

Other wins came in the discus and javelin, which was won by under-17's Cara Bennett and Ella Morgan respectively, with Leah Russell-Wells having two second placed finishes in the javelin and long jump.

In the 'B' string, Under-17 Ben Thompson won the 200m and and came second in the 100m.

In the same age category, Oscar Hewitt looked set to win the 800m, but was pipped to victory by an athlete from Yeovil and had to be content with second.

The relays saw the women finish third and the men fifth, resulting in Hereford finishing fifth on the day.
