COUNTY athletes Rebecca Wreyford and Charlotte Smith enjoyed National Success at the Pony Club National Tetrathlon Championships at Kelso, Scotland.

The event saw teams from England, Scotland and Wales compete against each other, with athletes shooting, swimming, running and taking part in cross country riding.

The pair had been selected to represent Wales due to their current run of form and proved worthy of selection by achieving excellent scores in each of the four events.

Overall , Team Wales came third with Rebecca and Charlotte combining with fellow Pentathlon Hereford training partners Molly and Deryn Cressey Rogers and Seren Thorne.

After the foot phases (shoot, swim and run) Becky was lying in second place, but with a very good clear round on a tough cross country course, she managed to overtake the leader and came in 1st, winning the national championship and beating some very tough competition.

Charlotte also gave some impressive performances and managed a very credible 7th, becoming the second best score for Team Wales.

Both girls regularly train with Pentathlon Hereford for their swimming and running with Coach Kylie Mansfield and are members of the Radnor and West Pony Club.

Becky is at school at St Marys RC High School and Charlotte is at Pembridge Primary School.
