IT may still be early in the season, but both Bromyard and Burghill & Tillington would want to gain maximum points when they face each other this Saturday.

Bromyard – who only escaped relegation from Division One of the Worcestershire County Cricket League due to Harvington withdrawing – go into the match second from bottom, with Burghill just one place and five points above them.

Both lost last Saturday, with Burghill going down to table-toppers Droitwich Spa and Bromyard losing to Oldswinford & Stourbridge Social.

Despite Barney Morgan getting five wickets for Burghill, the villagers still lost by five wickets in their match.

After electing to bat after winning the toss, Droitwich could only make 182, with David Lane scoring 71 of them.

But Martyn Davies was in even better form with the ball for Droitwich, with his six wickets helping Droitwich bowl out Burghill for 132; Owen Morgan top scoring with 34.

Bromyard go into the derby on the back of an eight-thumping at Oldswinford.

The Worcestershire side only needed 24 overs to reach their target after bowling Bromyard out for 132, with Lee Nightingale making 80.

Colwall are in mid-table, but also lost last weekend.

Innocent Kaia hit a sure-fire 138 off 121 balls for Worcester Nomads to help his side reach 277-8.

Colwall were then bowled out for 152; Max Backhouse top scoring with 36.

It was better news for Bartestree & Lugwardine, who remain top of Division Three after beating Claverley by six wickets.

Luke Sparrow continued his fine bowling form by snapping up five wickets for just 20 runs, with k Trattell (4-9) also in great nick.

Ross-on-Wye are just a point above the bottom two places after losing by 61 runs to Old Vigornians.

That was despite Jack Evans scoring 79 and James Tiffen helping himself to four wickets.

Wormelow, meanwhile, are going along steadily in Division Two, with Alex Lovell's fantastic figures of 3-8 helping them to a seven-wicket win against Evesham.

Elliott Williams (3033) also bagged three wickets, while Ben Owens scored 45.
