ANTHONY Robbins says he cannot wait to get going again at Westfields and believes they can knock Hereford off their perch.

The midfielder has re-signed for the allpay.park side after spending two seasons at Pegasus Juniors and thinks his team can challenge Hereford at the top of the table.

“There is a real buzz in Hereford and it is a massive boost for the city to have them in the league,” said Robbins.

“Hereford is going to be a big club, but the players are so motivated to beat them.

“You’ve got players like Aidan Thomas and Craig Jones, who had spells there, and it would be lovely to show them what they have missed out on.”

At the time of going to press, Joel Edwards was still deciding whether to sign for Hereford or stay at Westfields.

“He is a hell of a player and has a big decision to make,” said Robbins.

“But we will accept whatever he decides.”

Robbins added that Hereford will not have it as easy as some people may think.

“Some of their fans have an expectation that they are going to walk the league and win 6-0 or 7-0 every week, but that isn’t going to happen,” he said.

“Some of the pitches haven’t got grass on them and it will be different to playing at Edgar Street.

“The fans will be in a for a bit of a shock and it will be hard for them because they’ve got to form a brand new side from scratch.”

“But it’s not just about Hereford, we’ve got to look at the bigger picture and to look at each game and take it one at a time.”

Sporting Khalsa, who ran away with the West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division title last season, winning 38 of their 42 games, are tipped by some to earn back-to-back promotions.

But Pegasus drew twice against them, while Wellington beat them in the semi-finals of the League Cup.

“They have got a good manager and have got a lot of contacts in and around the Birmingham area where they can get some good players, but I think some sides rolled over too easily when they played them,” said Robbins.

“They are paying a lot of money, but we (Pegasus) took them on and only lost to them in the FA Cup in a replay and drew away having been down to 10 men for the last 18 minutes.

“Westfields are a big club in the league and they will be in for a game when they play us.” Former Hereford United youth player Thomas is also back at Westfields following travelling in New Zealand, while Phil Glover has re-signed after missing most of last season with a back injury. Manager Sean Edwards has also recruited centre-back Jamie Sauntson from fellow Midland League side Walsall Wood, with Bobby Aldrich signing on a as player-coach.

As reported by the Hereford Times last week, Jones has committed himself to Westfields, while agreements have also been made with Marcus Palmer, Mike Tambling and Tom Bendall. Former assistant manager Darren Lynch is also back to assist Edwards and Nathan Rivers.

Robbins said he had no hesitation in joining his former club.

“I am still in contact with a few of the players and they badgered me to get back there,” said Robbins, who wants to thank Pegasus for his time at the club. “Sean messaged me and asked if I would be interested and as soon as I met him, I made my mind up.

“What he said rubbed off on me straight away.

"I’ve never seen Sean so motivated and he is so enthusiastic about this season, I cannot wait to get going
