HEREFORDSHIRE Golf Club's Jon Devereux and Alex Allen were victorious in the Jeffrey Clee Salver at Ludlow Golf Club.

The competition is a foursomes gross played over 36 holes and is regarded as one of the top events in the Herefordshire and Shropshire county calendar.

In the morning round, Devereux and Allen lead the field by one shot and went further clear in the afternoon.

They finished four shots ahead, with scores of 76-72-148.

In joint second place were another pair from Herefordshire – Pete James and Will Lloyd, who had scores of 76-76-152.

Meanwhile, in the men's captain drive event, Michael Bayliss came top in the Division 1 event, with 42 points, ahead of Phil Leach (39) and Jack Cannon 38.

The Division 2 winner was Dave Glinos with 38 points, ahead of Barry Waller and Graham Sole.

Last year's captain, Dave Gwynne, recently presented a cheque of £1,500 to his chosen charity, Herefordshire Headway at Credenhill.
