HEREFORDSHIRE County Cricket Club will be in action this Sundays they kick-start their 2015/16 season.

The Minor Counties side, captained by David Exall, will face Berkshire at Colwall in a Unicorns Knockout Trophy tie from 11am.

Following that, they travel to face Oxfordshire at Wormsley, part of the Getting Family Estate.

The venue, near High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, has been described as the most beautiful cricket ground in the country and Herefordshire CCC secretary Ken Sharpe said the team are delighted to have the opportunity to play there.

"We are very fortunate to be able to play at this ground, it is a superb venue," said Sharpe.

Anyone wishing to play in the game can contact Ken on 01432 359990.

Herefordshire's first Unicorns County Championship match will be against Cornwall on June 7 and 8, but before that they will be competing in the Minor Counties League's inaugural Twenty20 competition.

Played at Eastnor Cricket Club on Sunday May 31, Herefordshire will face Wales in a qualifying round at 11am, with Oxfordshire taking on Shropshire.

The winners will then square off against each other at 4pm, with finals day taking place at Banbury on Sunday, July 12.

Meanwhile, Herefordshire CCC's development squad enjoyed more than practice nets at their first get together of the 2015 season.

A huge Easter egg, presented by HCCC chairman Bobbie Edwards, was hit for more than six so everyone could share the chocolate.

"I had won the Easter egg in a Black Mountains Lions draw and, with Easter being over, I needed some help to eat it," said Edwards.

"I knew these young cricketers would probably appreciate it after a practice workout, so I was happy to provide this teat."

The development squad's first game will be against the Army Development on Wednesday, April 29.

They then face Herefordshire CCC's first team in a Twenty20 game on Sunday, May 3.
