A PROFESSIONAL boxer created a stir when he visited South Wye Police Boxing Academy.

Craig Morris, who trained at the Hinton-based club for a number of years, is set to to make his professional debut at Walsall Town Hall next Saturday.

The multiple Amateur Boxing Association champion is returning to the ring after a 12 month break and is being guided by experienced boxing promoter and manager Dave Bradley.

"Craig is a special boxer," said Bradley.

"He recently had an invitation to travel up to spat against commonwealth gold medallist Scott Fitzgerald where both boxers held their own and gained from the experience," said Bradley.

Morris said that it was great to return to the club.

"It's fantastic to see how the club has developed over the years," said Morris.

"Hinton was one of the places I started out in and am looking forward to seeing everyone on the night of the show."

Successful boxers previously managed by Bradley include Stourbridge’s Robert Norton, who progressed from an amateur through to a professional, and Shrewsbury’s Roddy Doran whose career took him to a WBF world title fight.
