DUNCAN Morris believes footballers' attitude has changed after deciding to withdraw Brimfield from the Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League.

Morris said he really struggled to field teams for some games in Division 1 this season, with just four registered players available for a recent away game at Bromyard.

"I hired a local mini-bus for the game," said Morris.

"I realised then it was not going to get better.

"My commitment was there, but I don't think the players' commitment was.

"It is getting more and more difficult getting a team to play every week.

"I think it is the climate we live in.

"Players would rather have a tattoo done or go to a stag do, the commitment is not there anymore."

Morris previously managed Woofferton Colts, who rose through the ranks to earn promotion to Division 1 of the Herefordshire League two years ago.

However, due to league rules stating that no two teams can play in the same division of the Herefordshire League, Morris decided to change their name to Brimfield.

The team finished fourth in their debut season on 30 points, the same amount as Woofferton.

Morris said he is happy with what he has achieved and had no plans of taking Brimfield to the Premier Division.

"I achieved what I always wanted to achieve and in five seasons was successful," he said.

"I have got no regrets and even had a local sponsor for this season.

"We got to Division 1, which was perfect.

"But Brimfield's level compared to say Leominster, who have got a good ground, and Ewyas Harold, who have some money, is different."

Morris said he wanted to thank the Herefordshire Football Association for their support.

"They are trying to engage people to play football," he said.

"But it's difficult because there are more temptations for players now."

Morris, who will now concentrate on promoting his son Craig's professional's boxing career, added that kit is available for any player who wants to use it for next season.
