MEMBERS of Hereford of City Swimming Club have been causing a splash in water polo.

Millie Boucher recently captained the Welsh Under-17 Girls team at the ASA Regional Championships in Walsall before being selected for the Great Britain Girls development squad.

Alun Rickards is also a member of the Welsh training squad and will captain Cwm Draig, a club side made up of members of the Welsh squad, in the National Age Group Championships at under-17 level.

Nine of the club’s under-15 players have joined together with a similar number from Worcester to enter the Midlands Water Polo Youth League.

Coach David Cash said “This is the first time a team from Hereford has played in a competitive league for 20 years and the first ever junior team from the county to do so.”

"Players like Millie and Alun have had to play their league water polo elsewhere whilst still training at Hereford and have shown incredible dedication and commitment.

"They have also been an inspiration to the younger players and our entry into the Midland Water Polo League is something that they can also be proud of.”

The team train at Hereford Leisure Pool on Saturdays between 9 and10am.
