A EWYAS Harold player is recovering after momentarily losing consciousness at the end of his side’s Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League Premier Division game against Tenbury United.

Will Lindesay was knocked out following a collision of heads with a Tenbury player and was put in the recovery position.

Following assistance from first-aiders, he soon came around and is making a full recovery.

“We want to thank the Tenbury players and management team for the thoughts and help on the day, which was fantastic,” said Ewyas Harold director Malcolm Watkins.

“The manager said to blow the whistle after it happened, which I thought was a fantastic gesture.

“Will was still a bit groggy on Saturday and Sunday but is recovering.

“Thankfully we had first aiders there who helped him and he did not need to go to hospital.”

Watkins said that Lindesay was only unconscious for about 30 seconds, but was put in the recovery position. Tenbury joint manager Aaron Morris said football is forgotten when incidents like that happen.

“You just hope the player is ok,” said Morris.

Lindesay had earlier scored a 30-yard thunderbolt that won the game for Harold that puts them top of the league.

Previous leaders Wellington Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw by Orleton Colts, while Pegasus Reserves lost 1-0 to Hinton. Bottom club Leominster Town recorded their first win of the season against Fownhope that earns them the Hereford Times Performance of the Week award.

Jake Bowen and Terry Williams grabbed the goals for Leominster, who had Mike Hillman sent off.

In Division 1, Ewyas Harold Reserves beat Bartestree Reserves 6-1, while Division 3 leaders Dore Valley beat Shobdon to stay five points clear of Ledbury Colts, who beat Malvern Vale 1-0.

In the quarter-finals of the Jock Handley Cup, Sinkums, Fownhope Reserves, Bromyard and Woofferton all prevailed, while Orleton Colts Reserves and Tupsley will meet in the HFL FW Petersen Cup after winning their their respective semi-finals.
