A COUNTY footballer is making a name for himself for Premier League side West Bromwich Albion after scoring five hat-tricks in ten appearances in the Junior Premier League.

Cawley Cox started his footballing journey with Hereford City and now turns out for West Brom Elite Player Centre.

The under-11 player is the latest in a line of Hereford City players who have gone on to clubs at a higher level.

“We’ve had boys play with Hereford United, Bristol, Shrewsbury and Cheltenham," said coach Dave Beaumont.

The Hereford City coaching staff says Cawley’s success is down to his hard work and dedication on the training pitch.

“His effort and commitment has always been superb,” said Beaumont.

“The boys train hard and smart at a fast pace covering all aspects of player development, individually tailored to each boy.

“Our aim is simple – to help each player achieve the very best they can and we as a club support that 100%”

Fellow Hereford City coach Malcolm Allen says Cawley’s team mates have been inspired by his performances.

"Cawley's and the teams achievements in winning many tournaments to date are an example of what hard work can achieve," said Allen.

“The rest of the team have certainly taken note of what he’s done, and we wish him further success."

However, Allen adds that Cawley’s success has led to a problem for his under-11s.

“When Cawley is playing for WBA, we are a striker short and so we are now actively looking for an attacking midfielder or centre forward.”
