TIM Iveson of Builth & District AC put in a superb performance to secure the win in the 19th running of the Muddy Woody 6.

Organised by Wye Valley Runners, the event was competed over a challenging, undulating woodland trail course in Haugh Woods.

Iveson was closely followed by previous race winners Mike Pfeiffer of Brecon AC and Elliot Taylor of Hereford Couriers, who finished second and third respectively.

Laura Toottell of Wye Valley Runners held off a strong challenge from fellow club member Kathryn King to secure victory in the ladies race for the second successive year.

Rachel Ward of Amazing Feet had an incredible run to finish third as a FV55 in a time of 57.10.

Monross Trailblazers won the men's team award by a single point from Wye Valley Runners in a hotly contested race.

Blazers' squad consisted of Andrew Stephens, Barry Davies and Phil Thomas.

The women's prize went to the Wye Valley Runners team of Laura Tootell, Kathryn King and Maria Miles.

The Wye Valley Runners Shield was awarded to Steven Flowers, with the Jim Gray trophy going to Steve King.

Both competitors are from Wye Valley Runners.

The race also marked a very special occasion for the Young family , who had three generations competing for the very first time.

The family consisted of grandfather Keith, 63, son Andy, 43, and grandson Nathan, 18.

The feat was made all the more remarkable by the fact that Andy broke his neck in 2011.

A total of 284 runners completed the challenge, with Wye Valley Runners donating £2 of each race entry to Midlands Air Ambulance.

An additional £122 was also raised at the event.
