HEREFORD Academy recently hosted a fire service international game between England and Wales.

Many semi-professionals from across the country graced the 3G pitch in one of five annual matches for the fire service.

Wales took a first half lead, but the fitness of the England team gradually paid dividends to secure a 3-1 victory.

The Academy were presented with a commemorative plaque by the England Fire Service Football Section for being the hosts.

"The England Fire Service Football Section were overwhelmed by the fantastic hospitality shown by both teams and officials during our recent match held at Hereford Academy," said England Fire Serice secretary Dave Gilbert.

"The facilities were superb and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, which allowed the players to put on a great event for those watching.

"Fortunately for us, England were the winners on the day in a hard fought encounter.

"The team would be more than pleased to return to the Academy to another fore service football fixture in the future."
