THE future of Ledbury Town remains unclear after the club continue to be locked out of New Street.

The ground which has been Ledbury's home for 81 years, is currently shut, meaning the club's two sides have had to find alternative facilities to play.

It was initially reported that landowners Property Solutions (Ledbury) Ltd agreed for the teams to continue using the pitch and changing rooms at New Street to complete the season.

But the ground has since been locked, leaving the sides in limbo.

A meeting was due to be held last night (Wednesday) between the company and the teams' committee to try and find a solution.

"We are locked out of the ground due to the wording of the tenancy agreement and the developers are not prepared to alter it," said Ledbury Town chairman Paul Mann.

"But we are still negotiating with them and all is not lost short term.

"It's more of a long-term problem."

Ledbury Reserves are third in Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League Division 1, while the Colts are riding high in second place in Division 3.

Ledbury Swifts, who play off Ross Road, have offered their pitch for the teams to play, as have the cricket club, based at the back of the Full Pitcher pub.

The Reserves were due to play their Ross Cup semi-final match against Fownhope Reserves last Saturday.

But the wet weather made the pitch unplayable.

Both teams are away this weekend.
