SHAUNE Harris hailed a “momentous day” for his Kington Town side as they demolished league leaders Darlaston Town in West Midlands (Regional) League Division 2.

Aaron Hodge was the star of the show by grabbing a hat-trick, with Daniel Stack scoring the other two goals.

The win leaves the Yellows in sixth place but they have games in hand on all but one of the teams above them. They face Wylrey Reserves on Saturday.

“A momentous day for the club, probably up there as one of the best days since I’ve come in,” said Harris.

“It was amazing to do it in front of a big crowd, and they were superb.

“That being said, it’s only three points and there’s still a long way to go if we are to achieve promotion this season.”

Kington broke the deadlock in the 30th minute when Stack made an acrobatic lunge to stab home following a corner.

The lead was doubled four minutes before half-time when Dale Hodge crossed for his brother Aaron to grab his first goal.

The siblings linked up again moments later, with Aaron running onto Dale’s cross to calmly slot home.

The Yellows put the game out of Darlaston’s reach when Aaron Hodge rounded two defenders before laying the ball on a plate for Stack to score.

The win was rounded off in style when a long Ricky Dyer clearance found Aaron Hodge to slot past Darlaston’s keeper and complete his hat-trick.
