ROSS-on-Wye Cricket Club have been awarded £22,000 from Sport England to repair damage caused by last year's floods.

The money from the Flood Relief Fund will go towards resurfacing two artificial practice wickets, as well as the club's main artificial match wicket on the main square.

The result of the severe storms in January and February 2014 meant that both the practice nets facility and the cricket outfield were waterlogged for a long time.

This caused the practice artificial wickets to be left in a drastic state of repair.

Stuart Mair, Chairman of Ross-on-Wye Cricket Club said the club are delighted to receive the grant.

"This work is scheduled to commence in March and will ensure that Ross-on-Wye Cricket Club commences the 2015 season with brand new, fantastic facilities," he said.

"My thanks go to all the people within the club that made this happen and to Sport England for this significant investment to our club.

"The club is also looking at a number of ways of improving the facilities at the ground and this is another step towards ensuring that we have the best facilities in the area for players to play their cricket."
