GREYHOUND picked up a much-needed win against fellow strugglers Tenbury in Midlands 4 West (North).
The Hereford side had several players back from long injuries, which helped them record only their second win of the season.
On a freezing cold day, the visitors put the pressure on throughout the 80 minutes.
After only nine minutes, fly-half Pete Smith broke through the home defence to go under the posts, which was converted by Matt Swain.
Despite Greyhound being the most dominant side, Tenbury held on and put two penalties over from captain Will Gough to take them to within a point of the visitors.
The second half became a stop-start game with injuries on both sides.
Gough slotted over another penalty, which was cancelled out by Swain a few minutes later.
The Dogs managed to hold on and gain their first win since beating Telford last September.
"It may only have been a one point difference but we will take that," said Greyhound spokesman Shaun Thomas.
All of the players’ hard work is starting to pay off”.
Elsewhere, Ledbury came from Upton-on-Severn with an impressive 10-7 win in Midlands 3 West (South) that leaves them sixth in the table.
But Ross went down 20-3 to Westbury-on-Severn in Gloucester 2.
Both Hereford's and Bromyard's scheduled games were called off.
