HEREFORDSHIRE Under-15's could make history after advancing to the quarter finals of ESFA Inter Association Playstation.

The county side have reached this stage before, but never have made the last four.

Their chance will come on January 17 when they will travel to Oxfordshire to face Vale of Whitehorse.

Goals from James Hancocks and Greg Preece saw the under-15 beat Plymouth Schools 2-0 last time out at Leominster's Briarwood ground.

Herefordshire made a positive start and were rewarded with a goal after only five minutes when leading scoring James Hancocks of Bishops School put the home side ahead.

Plymouth's fluid and accurate passing started to cause problems for Herefordshire and they deservedly equalised with a fine shot mid-way through the first half.

Captain Fred Newton and Wigmore pupil Josh Pearce defended stoutly and Hereford Academy goalkeeper George Tindale pulled off a fine save to thwart Plymouth.

Herefordshire secured the win when Kingstone's Greg Preece beat his marker to score an excellent goal fat the near post following a corner.

Richard Wydenbach, chairman of Herefordshire Schools FA, said he is delighted with the progress the team are making.

"I have been involved with the County Schools FA for over 40 years and this was one of the best displays I have seen from a Herefordshire side," said Wydenbach.

"We have reached the quarter finals before and so if we could get through the next round this team would deservedly make history."
