A THREE-goal blitz in the first half-hour consigned Westfields to defeat at lowly Shepshed Dynamo.

A win would have given the city a chance of moving into the Midlands Premier League's top three but that prospect had begun to recede inside the first 50 seconds.

Jamie Cuss lost possession and the home left-winger beat Sam Gwynne to cross for David Hind to smash the ball home.

Nathaniel Lewars and Joel Edwards had efforts well saved by home keeper Luke Pickering as Fields tried to hit back.

But James Febery's needless foul on Scott Staniland enabled the home player to extend the lead from the penalty spot.

And Staniland scored his second of the game when a foul by Cuss on the edge of the area enabled him to curl a free-kick over the defensive wall and past the diving Matt Gwynne.

A double substitution saw Craig Jones and Deqwon Eubanks brought into the action.

And the move almost paid off when Matt Reeve hit the woodwork with a 20-yard drive.

But although the Westfields defence, in which Edwards and Febery did well, kept a close rein on former Leicester City striker Julian Joachim, the visitors rarely looked like breaking through at the other end as time ran down.
