BROMYARD player-manager Matt Beale was left disappointed despite his team winning their 34th game in three years.

Three goals in the last seven minutes sealed the win for the Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League Division One side that puts them three points clear at the top of the table.

“I was disappointed with the performance,” said Beale, who was once on the books at Hereford United.

“In the first half we could have gone in three or 4-0 up with the amount of chances we had.

“I said to the boys, the longer the game goes on and we don’t take our chances, they’re going to nick one.

“Fortunately we came on top, which flattered us really.

“You go out at the start of the game and you tell them things to do and how I would like to play.

“But when they don’t go out and do it and do it properly, it’s disheartening because you work in training and do things so we can win games.

“I know I’ve got a good group of lads and we should be putting this to bed.

“But I can’t complain too much though because we haven’t lost yet.”

Bromyard was only formed three years ago to give local players some games after they failed to get into Bromyard Town’s side. They have so far won 34 out of their 36 games, with their only draw this season coming against Woofferton.

Beale said that promotion is once again the aim.

“With the group of lads we’ve got, we should be going up,” he said.

“All the lads are from Bromyard and are decent players.

“As long as they want to learn, I will take anyone on.

“At the start of the season we had Nathan Godsall. who has been absolutely superb for us and has been our engine in midfield.

“But Chris Jefferson worked hard up front last Saturday and Dale Allan has come on and done really well.

“He’s a lad who only started playing football two or three years ago and has come on leaps and bounds.

“To get him involved and see the work rate and commitment is great to see.”

Bromyard almost took the lead after just 18 seconds when Will Tolley’s audacious effort just went over the bar from around 30 yards out.

Connor Bennington then dragged his effort wide before Chris Jefferson opened the scoring after eight minutes when he powerfully headed home a corner.

Brimfield slowly got back in the game and equalised in the 34th minute when James Byatt stroked the ball home after Darren Tickle saved his initial shot.

Both teams had chances in the second half, with Brimfield’s Jason Mynett screwing his effort just wide after 73rd minute and Tolley failing to test Vickery seven minutes later.

Substitute Allan then found space on the edge of the area seven minutes from the end and his lofted cross deceived Vickery to go straight in.

“It was a cross, but I’ll take any goal I can get,” said Allan.

“I think I had one of my better games.”

Jefferson then made it 3-1 a minute later when Vickery was caught napping before Tom Smith put the ball in his own net after Dean Corbett’s effort hit a post.
