HEREFORDSHIRE Council have confirmed that they attempted to take possession of Hereford United's Edgar Street ground and its related land tonight.
This, the council said, was done through peaceful re-entry for breach of three leases due to non-payment of rent.
However, officers were unable to enter the premises as they were occupied by a club representative.
Therefore, the council will now take legal action to gain possession.
"We had previously not pursued this course of action, as when we joined the winding up petition on September 15, our insolvency advisors suggested that it was highly likely the club would be wound up on October 20," said a Herefordshire Council spokesman.
"However, in light of the further six week adjournment, we have decided to use other legal actions available to us as landlord."
